How will you protect my home while you’re working?

The first thing we’ll do is put down tarps and plastic to protect the entire area around the zone where we’ll be working. That allows us to limit dust and make sure there aren’t any splatters or splashes from the products that we use.

Will the process be dusty?

Accepted Answer

No. Most of the processes that we use on natural stone are wet, which keeps dust down. Also, any time we have to do dry sanding, we use HEPA-filtered vacuums to contain any dust.

How often should I seal my stone?

Accepted Answer

Most interior stone needs to be sealed every three to five years, while exterior stone should be sealed every year. We can help you determine how often a specific surface should be sealed based on the type of stone, its location and how much it gets used.

Is there any way to prevent etching on marble?

Accepted Answer

Yes, there are many products that can seal your marble and protect it against etching, including MORE AntiEtch.

Question 5

Can you show me how AntiEtch works?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We’ll bring a small tile that has been treated with AntiEtch on one side and untreated on the other. Then we’ll add things like lemon juice, vinegar and magic marker so you can see how each side reacts.

Can any company apply AntiEtch?

Accepted Answer

No. It’s not a commercial product that anyone can buy off of the shelf—we have to purchase it through the manufacturer and only certified applicators can use it.

How soon can I use the area after the work is completed?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the type of work. For a surface treated with AntiEtch, you can use it immediately. If we use a penetrating sealer on a stone surface, it usually takes 24 hours to fully cure. Either way, we’ll give you directions for when you can use your surfaces and how to care for them.

Is quartzite a good product to use?

Not all finishes and materials are the same when it comes to quartzite. Some quarries soak their quartzite slabs in acid and alkaline to neutralize the acid. That can be a problem, though, because the stone can become so saturated with chemicals that sealers don’t work on it.
