Shaull Saidi: A Deep Connection
By Matt Solis, Editor
Shaull Saidi didn’t think he was on the path to a permanent construction career when he first accepted a job as an electrician’s helper, but it wasn’t long before he realized he had found his professional calling. “One day, I noticed that I wasn’t checking my watch to see how much time was left before the end of the workday, which meant I really liked what I was doing,” he explains. “I stayed at that job for a year and a half and got to know the electrical trade pretty well, but then I jumped into being an independent handyman. It was exciting to take on bigger jobs and work with a diverse range of people. Eventually, I decided to establish my own business and Durabuilt Construction was born.”
Today, Shaull says the most rewarding aspect of his job is collaborating with his clients. “I like helping people be creative and express their ideas in a style that works for their homes. When the project is complete and everyone can see the results of our collective efforts, it’s very satisfying.”
Having spent most of his life in California, Shaull has developed a deep connection to the state, particularly where he currently resides in the Santa Cruz Mountains. “I love the natural beauty of this area,” he affirms. “The air, the quiet, the animals and the peace of mind are all great, but the best part is enjoying the view every day.”
Outside of his professional life, Shaull stays busy with a variety of interests and hobbies. “I love art, getting together with friends, hiking, going to the beach and making music,” he details. “I also practice Pranic Healing, which is a type of energy work that includes meditation and yoga.”
Shaull may like to stay active in his community, but he also enjoys the comforts of relaxing in his mountain home after a long day of building and remodeling. “Sometimes I just want to stay at home next to the fireplace, read a book, listen to music and cook some food,” he says. “That’s my idea of a perfect weekend.”
