Chad Creeden: Born to Roof
By Matt Solis, Editor
Growing up around his father’s business, Chad Creeden says it was only natural for him to get involved in the roofing industry. “My dad started Marco Roofing in 1975, so I’ve essentially been in the business my entire life,” he says. “I’ve always been drawn to working with my hands, so it just made sense. I started working on roofs in 1993 when I was 13 years old, and after I graduated high school, I joined the company full-time.”
Today, as general manager of Marco Roofing, Chad says his favorite part of his job remains the same thing that attracted him to the trade in the first place. “I still enjoy the installation process and the construction aspect of roofing. When our clients see the finished product and tell us how happy they are with our work, it’s a great feeling.”
A lifelong resident of the Bay Area, Chad currently lives in Alameda County, where he appreciates everything that the East Bay has to offer. “This area is pretty well centrally located—you can get to almost anywhere in the Bay within 30 to 40 minutes, which is nice,” he says. “The weather is also great, particularly during the beautiful summer evenings.”
Outside of work, Chad splits most of his free time between spending time with his three children (all of whom are in high school) and enjoying a variety of active pastimes. “My house is kind of hectic—sometimes it feels more like a boarding house with teenagers constantly coming and going—so I like to relax by working out and doing outdoor things like fishing, skiing, and hunting,” he details. “If I can spend the evening at the gym and then have a nice meal afterward, that’s my idea of perfection.”
